open for holiday
Fantastic wines, really cool people, and increadibly good food. We got properly spoiled!
We felt really well taken care of by you, with the combination of enthusiasm, competence, energy, drive and calm that you represent. Hotel Gimenelles became like a second home during our trip, and we had an unneccesarily good time.
I hope you continue spoiling fellow wine lovers! I will gladly do the trip again one day."

Two shining stars – Penedès and Priorat
Day 1 – Welcome to Catalonia
We meet up at the airport (Barcelona, Girona, Reus), or at a meeting-point of your choice. Depending on arrival time, we either go straight to the hotel, we stop on the way to enjoy lunch or dinner, or we start off your wine experience by visiting a winery. We will adapt the program according to your flight itinerary and your expectation for the trip.
At the hotel, a glass of Cava is awaiting you, and we propose a toast to welcome you to Catalonia. We will go through the program for the coming days, and make an introductory presentation of the wine regions we will experience together. We can arrange a wine tasting of a selection of wines from Catalonia, or suggest a wine package to accompany your dinner.
Day 2 – Penedès, the land of the sparkling Cava
After a peaceful breakfast at the hotel, it’s time to discover the Penedès region. Penedès is the birthplace of a wide variety of excellent wines, but it’s fair to say that the Queen among the wines of the region is the Cava – the sparkling wine of Spain. Penedès produces more than 95% of the Cava, so off course it’s here you will find the most interesting and the best sparkling wines Spain has to offer. We have discovered some amazing Cava that we hope you will like as much as we do.
During the visits to the wineries you will learn more about the local grapes that give the Cava it’s right character – Xarel.lo, Macabeo, and Parellada. The tasting will be focused either entirely on Cava, or combined with the cellars quality still wines. You choose if you want to visits two cellars (we don’t recommend more during each day), or if you want to exchange one visit for another activity, or for more leisure time.
Lunch can either be enjoyed at one of the wineries we visit, or at a selected restaurant specialized in the local cuisine. Maybe a seafood fiesta by the beach, accompanied by an excellent white wine of Penedès, or a refreshingly dry and sparkling Cava?
Day 3 – Priorat, the mythical mountain region of grand reds
After an early breakfast at the hotel, we head up to the hills of Priorat. Priorat is one of only two regions in Spain (the first being Rioja), that has been awarded the DOC status (DOQ in Catalonia), the quality denomination/designation of origin. The full-bodied red wines of the region have attained a growing fan-club internationally. If the weather allows, and it almost always does, we’ll visit the vineyards and talk about the special conditions of the region; the slate based soil (locally referred to as licorel.la), the steep hills, the local grape varieties Carignan (Samsò), and Grenache (Garnaxa). We will visit the cellar, and do a tasting of the amazing wines produced at the winery. The second visit for the day can either be in Priorat, or in the neighboring region of Montsant, all depending on the interest of the group.
Lunch could be a picnic al fresco, or enjoyed at one of the cozy restaurants in Priorat, specialized in local slow food. The food of the region is the perfect match for the lovely wines of Priorat.
Day 4 – Thank you, and welcome back!
After breakfast we join the group to the airport, or maybe to a hotel in Barcelona if you decide to extend the trip with a day or more in this beautiful city. Depending on your departure time, or continuing program for this journey, we can arrange further visits or activities. Our goal is to make you happy!
Personalizing your program
In this sample program, the evenings are free, but we’re happy to make recommendations for restaurants to visit, things to see and do. We hope to receive your feedback, your ideas and suggestions, to ensure the program meets all your expectations, your budget and interests. Some of our groups only want to focus on wine, and makes time for as many wineries as possible, and add special wine tastings in the evenings. Other guests want a more leisurely program, with more time to relax; maybe visit the beach or a spa, go shopping, play golf, or see Barcelona playing at Camp Nou. You can also combine the tour with more physical activities, like kayaking, biking or hiking. For the foodie, we can arrange a cooking class, or book an evening of fine dining. You’re welcome to ask for a proposal tailored to your requirements.
